Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River

Zach and I rode the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie river on Saturday. Fun trail, but the upper part always makes me want a full suspension ride again. We rode up the Trail to Dingford Creek, crossed and went up the road to the Dutch Miller trail head, and came back down the trail to Dingford creek again and crossed over to the road to ride back to the start. 30 miles. 3000' of climbing. 5 hours. Sore shoulders from not enough mountain biking.

If you want to see some video that will make you ill from the bouncing, check out Zach's Site.

Bad Motos!

Most days I'm a fan of multi use trails. Monday was not one of those days. Riding up Devil's Gulch was very nice. Not a car in the parking lot and not another person in sight. I took my time and took in the views during the 3500' climb. About 10 miles later I started down the Mission Ridge trail. It was sandy and a bit torn up, but I expected that. I'm hitting it kind of late in the season for multi use trail. Further down I was really disappointed in what I found. There is a fairly open tree filled slope that has some awesome "S" curves to carve down if you hit this trail at the right time of year. Well, not only were those blown out by motorcycles, but there were deep ruts and tracks up and down the entire face of the slope. It was torn to hell.

I know it was probably just one idiot, but boy can one idiot with a 125cc motor do a lot of damage.

Bend

Got to ride in Bend with some great friends this weekend. Mary and Justin planned out a monster loop for us on Saturday. We basically rode all the way around Mt. Tumalo. Mary made a nice stream crossing just before Justin lost an encounter with a tree around the 20 mile mark and they had to hitch hike back into town.

That left Joel and I to find our way over the last 10 miles alone. Thanks to Joel's stellar navigation we turned 10 miles into 14. Oh well. 3800 feet of climbing and 6 hours later we were pretty wiped out.

Sunday we took a much easier ride out to Phil's, up Ben's and down Storm King back to the highway for a crank into town.

300 Mile July

I think that's my biggest month ever. Not bad considering I've been running again and spending more time on the mountain bike. Trying to run and bike at least 3 times each per week. Yesterdays ride was tough. Dead tired. I'm taking a couple of days off before hitting the Mountain bike Trails in Bend this weekend.
